In conjunction with our overseeing body, the Evangelical Free Church of America (EFCA), the elder board has unanimously decided submit to the congregation a change to our constitution regarding our doctrinal statement.

Proposal to replace the current language of the CBC Constitution Article IV, Part 9 (Christ's Return) with the following:
"We believe in the personal, bodily and GLORIOUS return of our Lord Jesus Christ. The coming of Christ, at a time known only to God, demands constant expectancy and, as our blessed hope, motivates the believer to godly living, sacrificial service and energetic mission."
The current language of the CBC Constitution Article IV, Part 9 (Christ's Return) reads:
"We believe in the personal, bodily and PRE-MILLENNIAL return of our Lord Jesus Christ. The coming of Christ, at a time known only to God, demands constant expectancy and, as our blessed hope, motivates the believer to godly living, sacrificial service and energetic mission."

We will be voting on this change on our upcoming annual meeting September 13th, 2026.
Our intention for the change is that we have noticed a number of faithful potential church members over the years have enjoyed our church family but were not sure of their own end times viewpoint and did not want to affirm our statement on this particular doctrine without a pure conscience. This has been the experience of most of our EFCA churches through the country. We believe, alongside the EFCA, that this issue is a secondary truth and is not essential for fellowship within our church family.
Know that as a result of any change in our constitution our current teaching here at Community Bible Church, including the Pre-millennial return of Christ, will not change. The elder board is committed to holding fast to His Word.
We are also the midst of putting together a number of our teaching positions in writing, especially in regards to many issues being set forth by straying churches today. Our desire is that all those who are giving instruction will be in alignment with those teaching positions. A member or an attendee may hold to a different position than what we teach on these secondary issues and yet still be welcome to remain in fellowship.
May we all be as the Lord desires for His people, “make my joy complete by having the same mind, having the same love, united in spirit, intent on one purpose.” Philippians 2:2. Our purpose together in together is to know and make known the glory of God.
Feel free to reach out to me or any of our elders if you have any questions. We love you all and are so very grateful for your faithfulness to the Lord.
In His Service,
Clark
